A Blesta alternative
without a billing server to maintain

Blesta and BillingServ both address hosting billing, but the operating model matters as much as the feature list. A move to BillingServ changes who runs the billing application. It does not move your hosting servers or guarantee compatibility with the modules you use today.

Blesta describes a self-hosted product and publishes developer resources for extending it. That makes it a serious option when your team wants to own the deployment and build around its module architecture. See Blesta's developer features.

BillingServ runs as a hosted platform. Your team configures packages, gateways and supported integrations instead of maintaining the billing application's server. It is not a drop-in runtime for Blesta modules.

Blesta lists monthly Branded at $17.95, Unbranded at $20.95 and Flex at $23.95, with unlimited clients. Its owned licences start at $350; standard owned licences include the first year of support and updates, with optional renewal at $62/year. Lifetime editions are also available. BillingServ monthly plans are £12 for up to 250 clients, £18 for up to 1,000 and £28 for unlimited clients, excluding VAT. The platform fee does not take a percentage of billed revenue. BillingServ pricing.

These are different currencies, not a currency-adjusted saving claim. Compare the appropriate client limit, branding requirements, infrastructure costs, update responsibilities and any third-party module costs. If a reseller bundles your Blesta licence, use your actual renewal cost rather than the direct list price.

List modules, plugins, custom templates, package options and any scripts using Blesta's data or API. Match each dependency to a supported BillingServ workflow or identify the replacement work before agreeing a cutover.

1. Map customers, services, billing cycles and renewal dates.
2. Match server-side accounts to BillingServ orders without provisioning duplicate services.
3. Check whether existing payment authorisations can be retained with your gateway; do not assume a database export transfers them.
4. Test opening balances and representative invoices, then reconcile customer totals.
5. Agree which system owns each renewal during cutover and keep a read-only source archive.
