# Web Hosting Billing Software Setup Guide

> Set up web hosting billing software in BillingServ to sell hosting plans, manage recurring billing, connect service integrations, and support customers.

This guide is for teams setting up web hosting billing software to sell hosting services.

It covers the practical setup sequence: create your hosting products, configure billing, connect the system that delivers each service, test checkout, and check what happens after an order is placed.

## Before you start

Prepare:

* Your hosting plans and prices
* Monthly, yearly, or other billing cycles
* Setup fees, trials, and package options
* Tax classes and supported currencies
* Payment gateway test credentials
* Details for the control panel or service system you want to connect
* A test customer and test order

## 1. Configure your account

Complete [First-time setup](/docs/first-time-setup), then review the account-wide settings that affect new orders and invoices.

Open **Settings > Invoice** and check the invoice prefix, starting number, payment due period, currency, reminders, and suspension timing. See [Invoice Settings](/docs/settings/invoice) for the field reference.

If your customers are subject to different tax rules, create the required classes and zones in [Tax Settings](/docs/settings/tax).

## 2. Create your hosting packages

Open **CMS > Packages** and create a group such as **Web Hosting**. Create one package for each plan you sell.

For every package, configure:

* Customer-facing name and description
* Correct tax class
* Monthly and yearly billing cycles, if applicable
* Setup fees or trials
* Package options such as storage or additional resources
* The integration that should deliver the service

Start with a small number of clearly different plans. It is easier to test three clear packages than a catalogue with overlapping limits.

## 3. Add optional extras

If customers can choose additional storage, resources, or support, create the option in **CMS > Package Options** before attaching it to a package.

Preview the order form and check that the label, price, billing period, and setup fee are understandable. See [Package Options](/docs/cms/package-options).

## 4. Connect service delivery

If BillingServ should create or manage a service after an order, open the package and configure its **Integrations** section.

Depending on the service, you may need to select a server, node, external package, plan, location, or resource limit. Check the mapping carefully. The package a customer sees in BillingServ should point to the intended package in the connected system.

If provisioning is manual for now, leave the integration fields empty and document the manual step for your team.

## 5. Connect payments and run a test order

Open **Settings > Payment Gateways** and configure the provider in test mode. Complete a full order from the customer side.

Check that:

1. The correct package and billing cycle appear at checkout.
2. Tax, setup fees, discounts, and totals are correct.
3. The payment result is recorded.
4. The invoice is created and sent.
5. The order is in the expected state.
6. The service is created if an integration is enabled.
7. The customer can find the invoice and support route.

## 6. Check the operational workflow

Use the [Dashboard](/docs/dashboard) to check pending orders, unpaid invoices, and support activity. Use [Financial Performance](/docs/reports/financial-performance) to review package revenue, invoice activity, transactions, and order status.

Before accepting live orders, also test a failed payment, renewal, upgrade, downgrade, cancellation, provisioning failure, and package option.
