# How to Sell Digital Products with BillingServ

> Set up digital product delivery in BillingServ to sell ebooks, software, videos, and other digital downloads.

This guide is for businesses that want to sell digital products and deliver the files through BillingServ.

You will create a package, attach the files customers should receive, configure download rules, test the customer experience, and review delivery activity when you need to investigate a download issue.

## Before you start

Prepare the files, product description, price, billing cycle, tax class, download limit, link expiry period, and a test customer.

## 1. Create the digital product

Open **CMS > Packages** and create a group such as **Digital Products**. Add a package for the product.

Set the name, description, price, billing cycle, tax class, and any trial or setup fee. Explain what the customer receives and whether the purchase is one-off or recurring.

See [Packages](/docs/cms/packages) for the package setup process.

## 2. Attach the files

In the package, open the **Attachments** or **Digital Delivery** section and upload the files customers should receive.

Use clear filenames and include setup instructions where customers will need them. If the product has several files, explain what each file is for in the package description.

## 3. Configure delivery rules

Review the digital delivery settings for the package:

* Enable delivery
* Choose the download policy
* Set a maximum download count where required
* Set link expiry hours
* Enable PDF watermarking where appropriate

Choose limits that match the product. A limit should discourage casual sharing without preventing legitimate customers from using the files on their own devices.

## 4. Connect payment and test checkout

Configure a provider in **Settings > Payment Gateways** using its test mode. Place a complete test order and check that payment is recorded, the invoice is created, the purchase appears in the customer account, and the download link is available at the correct time.

Also test an expired link, a reached download limit, a cancelled order, and a customer who cannot open the file. Record the support response for each case.

Read [Payment Gateways](/docs/settings/payment-gateways) for the gateway setup fields.

## 5. Monitor delivery

Use the [Digital Delivery report](/docs/reports/digital-delivery-licensing) to review download activity and find customers whose files are active, locked, expired, suspended, or revoked.

The report can show the related order, package, customer, download count, and order status. Use it when investigating a delivery question instead of searching through individual orders first.
